Versatile Zinc Oxide Ointment
When you think of zinc oxide ointment, the first thing that comes to mind may be the lifeguard, with a generous coating of white zinc ointment coating the nose, to protect from sunburn. This is the most common use of zinc oxide ointment. In fact, many skin experts believe that this ointment, albeit not as attractive, is superior to today’s chemical sunscreens in absorbing the harmful UVAs and UVBs.
What you may not know is that this natural skin ointment is a valuable addition to your medicine cabinet, as a treatment for a variety of skin conditions and disorders. For example, zinc oxide ointment is extremely effective in treating acne, having multiple virtues specific to the relief of acne conditions. It reduces inflammation, decreases the production of the excessive oils, draws out toxins and increases healing of the skin.
Many Moms use zinc oxide ointment to prevent and treat diaper rash. This handy ointment is also good for treating minor cuts, burns and abrasions. Dandruff and dermatitis also respond well to the use of zinc oxide. It can also be used to treat athlete’s foot, as well as poison oak, ivy and sumac rashes, where it helps to suppress both the miserable symptoms of itching and inflammation.
While it may seem obvious, it’s important to note that this ointment is for external use only and should never be ingested by mouth. If you have young children in your home, or children that visit, be sure you keep this tube of ointment out of the reach of curious kids. To prevent accidental ingestion, be sure to wash your hands well after use.
Here’s how to apply zinc oxide ointment. Slather it generously over the skin. Leave it uncovered. Don’t use a bandage, unless your physician directs you to do so. Before using zinc oxide ointment on babies and children, consult your pediatrician. While interactions with other prescribed drugs are rare, they may occur. If you have a skin lotion or other topical ointment already on the affected site, it’s best to clean the area before applying the zinc ointment.
Here are some general guidelines on situations and conditions that call for consultation with your doctor or pharmacist before using zinc skin ointment. If you’re planning to conceive, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, seek professional advice before use. Check for contraindications or possible interactions If you take OTCs, prescription medications, vitamins or herbal supplements. If you suffer from allergies, whether they are to foods or medicines, check it out with your pharmacist.
Perhaps one reason that zinc oxide ointment is so effective is that there are hundreds of enzymes that depend on this trace mineral in order to function properly. Zinc is found in just about every cell of the body. It also contains powerful antioxidant properties and is an important factor in your immune system response. Our skin is after all, the largest organ in our bodies, and absorbs the nutrients of zinc oxide ointment directly through the skin.
With proper use, you can see that zinc oxide ointment is an excellent remedy to have on hand in your medicine cabinet.
I have dry red skin near the head of my penis. How do I treat this?
Okay, well I have red dry skin near the head of my penis, that will not go away. I have tried everything from antibiotic ointment to corn starch to lotion, and it still won’t go away. I’ve researched balantis, but it seems like its only for uncircumsized men, but I am circumsized. Is this what I have? And what can I use that’s over the counter that will make this go away? Help! Red pimple on lip…extremely dry skin.?
Alright well I have the challenge of all challenges when it comes to acne! My face is pretty much completely free of acne except one huge pimple right on the lower left edge of my lip and then another one on the right side. Both of them are extremely red and look very unsightly.
I’ve been using a prescribed benzene peroxide ointment on them, but they are drying out my skin so much that the skin there is becoming even more red and if I try to use concealer over them it creates a nice crusty pink puff on the corner of my lip. Ew! I just washed my face and put some really thick moisturizer on them after treating them, but now I’m not sure if that was such a good idea.
What can I do to reduce redness, keep my face moisturized, and get rid of these disgusting pests?
It’s not a cold sore…it’s going away except its still really red. I’ve already checked into the cold sore thing.
under my lip is always really dry during winter…so i could understand how it could get confused with a cold sore

Best thing for nappy rash?
My little girl just spent 3 days in hospital on antibiotics that gave her shocking diarrhea and now she has extremely bad nappy rash, the night she started on them we started slathering her with sudocream (just zinc oxide) and while we were there one of the nurses suggested we tried zinc and castor oil cream neither seem to have done much she’s actually got skin taken off
now she’s back at home I’ll let her have as much no nappy time as I can but has anyone got any other suggestions? The poor thing seems to be in so much pain, we use sensitive skin wipes and change her non stop but it seems to be getting worse. She’s almost one month old.

scab like skin on lips?
i have been trying to fix this problem for a while now but this is bothering me. i have gotten my lips checked by a orthodontic surgeon and said i would have to get surgery and be put to sleep while i am in operation and i have both sides but my left side is more noticeable than my right side
it used to be a blister from chapped lips and i put Lip Medex which normally heals and helps my lips that last time but this time they wont heal at all!
i had a cold sore last summer while i had this problem and my doctor prescribed me the same ointment for cold sores for my lips and also gave my mimxy cream and they dont work at all
they do heal but it heals to skin and its white and i can also peel them off and of course it would hurt if i do since it reveals flesh and i did that and put medicine and nothing
a pharmacist from longs said to use vaseline 100% petroleum jelly and it kinda healed my right side but no changes to the left i took three pics of the left side so you guys can see what i mean
and no i dont have herpes or any oral disease as i am not sexually active nor put contaminated object in my mouth
i also believe the the sun kinda affected the skin because i was working out in the sun last summer for over a month and got a cold sore as mentioned
i canceled the surgery since that would leave two scars on my lips and i dont trust this guy since once i walked in the room and he just examined my lips for just one minute or less and just said u need surgery and u need lip sunblock to prevent skin cancer
any good suggestions will help!
i used triple antibiotic ointment and that didnt work either
here are the pictures
